Here’s a free tutorial and pattern for the Summer Sling Bag. This is a very simple bag sewing project that anyone and everyone can try.
The designer has made a fun sling bag that is a simple and quick project to make.
If you are teaching someone to sew, this would be a great pattern to use.
- It’s free
- doesn’t use a whole lot of fabric
- doesn’t need a complicated pattern (you cut simple rectangles of fabric from the measurements given)
- no expensive hardware needed
- no difficult to find or expensive supplies needed
- very simple straight line sewing
- a very practical bag to use
- its a good basic bag pattern that you can customise with your own design ideas if you have more sewing experience
The top of the bag, above where the strap connects, just folds over to close. You could decide to add in your own closure here such as a large button, velcro or a magnetic snap. Or just allow the top to fold over to close the bag.
What you will need to make the Summer Sling Bag:-
- ΒΌ yard of accent fabric.
- Two fat quarters, one for the exterior and one for the lining.
- One large button (optional).
- Basic sewing supplies.
- A sewing machine.
