Sew a feed sack bag – bag of the month
|The next class in the Creative Bug Bag of the Month series is out. Sew a ‘Feed Sack’ bag for July.
Elke Bergeron shows you how to design and sew a versatile vintage-style tote, which can be worn off the shoulder or as a cross body bag. You will learn how to work with feedsack fabric, add a touch of canvas ticking for reinforcement, sew together a linen lining, and create leather straps. Add brass rivets and clips, and you will have your very own sturdy, handmade bag.
You can always create, print or buy a vintage looking fabric too. Doesn’t have to be a real sack!
Learn how to:
- Work with antique feedsack fabric
- Add ticking reinforcement
- Sew a lining
- Add hardware to your bag
- Cut and finish leather straps
- Punch holes in leather
- Create leather washers for rivets
- Use rivets to secure straps to bag
