Latest in the Bag of the Month series. Video tutorial - how to sew a vintage style feed sack bag.

The next class in the Creative Bug Bag of the Month series is out.  Sew a ‘Feed Sack’ bag for July.

Elke Bergeron shows you how to design and sew a versatile vintage-style tote, which can be worn off the shoulder or as a cross body bag. You will learn how to work with feedsack fabric, add a touch of canvas ticking for reinforcement, sew together a linen lining, and create leather straps. Add brass rivets and clips, and you will have your very own sturdy, handmade bag.

You can always create, print or buy a vintage looking fabric too.  Doesn’t have to be a real sack!

Learn how to:

  • Work with antique feedsack fabric
  • Add ticking reinforcement
  • Sew a lining
  • Add hardware to your bag
  • Cut and finish leather straps
  • Punch holes in leather
  • Create leather washers for rivets
  • Use rivets to secure straps to bag
