Reno Rounded Makeup Bag sewing pattern
If you would like to make yourself an adorable little makeup bag then we have found you a fantastic example here. The Reno Rounded Makeup Bag has a rounded bottom and edges, is fully lined with a smooth interior, and will make a perfect gift. It’s also great fun and quick to make.
We just LOVE this shape! The long zipper top allows the bag to open up really wide so you can easily see and grab what’s inside.
This is one of this designer’s most popular patterns and she has classed it as an intermediate pattern due to the rounded sides. Experience with sewing curves is recommended. However, the step by step instructions with color photos that the designer provides makes it very easy to follow the pattern.
TIP for curves – just take it slow! It’s much easier to sew a curve if you are fully in control of needle and fabric. If it would help, you can draw on the stitching line with an erasable fabric marker to make sure your stitches are in exactly the right place.
When you have finished making the Reno Rounded Makeup Bag it will measure approximately 8″ by 5 1/2″.
What you will need to make the Reno Rounded Makeup Bag:-
- 13” by 9” cotton/vinyl/faux leather fabric for the exterior,
- 6” by 22” cotton contrast fabric for the sides and zipper panels,
- 18” by 22” fat quarter of cotton lining fabric,
- 12” by 8” foam interfacing such as ByAnnie’s Soft and Stable, Pellon Flex-Foam or similar,
- 18” by 22″ lightweight fusible interfacing such as Vilene G700 woven fusible, Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex, or any scrap of light but not lofty fusible interfacing you have laying around. This is to stabilize the zipper, sides, and lining,
- One 11” Zipper (if you’re very uncomfortable replacing zipper pulls, choose a dividing zipper),
- Wonder Clips,
- Rotary cutter, cutting mat & ruler,
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
