Scandi Handbag – FREE sewing pattern
|This is one smart-looking bag! Pat Bravo designs fabrics for Art Gallery Fabrics, and when a new range comes out, she often designs a new pattern to showcase the fabrics. Many of them are quilt patterns, but in this case, we are delighted by the Scandi handbag sewing pattern. This stylish purse does have a Scandinavian look to it, and we especially like how Kraft Tex has been used for the handles and closure. Not tried Kraft Tex before? Check out some more Kraft Tex patterns and ideas on Sew Modern Bags here.
Don’t have a printer? No worries with this pattern because it’s a measure and cut pattern, which means you don’t need to print out (and tape together) paper templates. Just measure, mark and cut the pattern right there on the fabric. We recommend a quilting ruler, rotary cutter and Frixion pens (heat erasable fabric markers).
What you need to make the Scandi Handbag:-
- 1/2 yard of quilting cotton for the front & back,
- 3/4 yeard of contrasting quilting cotton for the sides & bottom,
- 3/4 yard of Kraft Tex for the handles & closure (or you can use ready-made purse handles, or make them from fabric),
- Hard Pellon Peltex 71 interfacing,
- Double-sided fusible – Wonder Under,
- Fusible fleece,
- Twelve silver rivets,
- One silver 1″ buckle,
- Basic Sewing supplies,
- Sewing machine.
