Edingthorpe Satchel Messenger Bag sewing pattern

This stylish purse is the Edingthorpe Satchel Messenger Bag, influenced by satchels, which were the original ’cross-body’ bags.

This simple style gives a nod to those popular in the 1940s and features a pleated front pocket, a choice of two flap styles, and two interior pocket options—one zipped and one ‘patch’. If you choose, you can also make it with a plain front pocket instead of a pleated one.

The vintage-inspired Edingthorpe Satchel is a practical shape and size for all uses and occasions and can be made in a variety of fabrics, and with a contrasting strap/front pocket.
