This is the DIY Open Wide Pouch FREE sewing tutorial (with video). Who likes to sew zipper bags? We do too! In our opinion, you can never have too many because they are so versatile and have so many uses. This handy Wide Open Zipper Pouch is a free sewing pattern and comes with a full step by step sewalong video too.
This versatile pouch can be packed and repacked with your necessities.
It can be used as a clutch or sometimes as a cosmetic pouch. This bag has a wide zip closure for easy access to the inside, and a flat case so it stands up nicely on its own. The little handle is a nice addition. Make your own pouch bag with your favorite fabric.
When you have finished making your very own DIY Open Wide Pouch it will measure approximately 8¾″(22 cm) wide by 6″ (15 cm) high by 3″ (7.5 cm) deep.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified. All of the dimensions for the pieces you need to cut are shown in the video.
What is needed to make a DIY Open Wide Pouch:
- An outer layer of quilting cotton,
- Lining (quilting cotton),
- One 8″ (20 cm) zipper,
- Fusible fleece (Similar to Pellon 987F ‘ or ‘Vilene H630’),
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
