What’s needed to make an Oxford Hobo Bag:-

  • 1 yard of exterior fabric (lighter cotton fabrics or leather/vinyl),
  • 2 yards of lining fabric for the lining and straps,
  • A long strip of non-fraying material for the accent belt (at least 2½” by 64” long),
  • Non-fraying material for the strap connectors (at least 10″ by 5″),
  • 3 yards of SF101 (4 yards if you are using cotton woven or lighter fabric for your exterior),
  • 18″ of #5 zipper tape with a #5 pull,
  • One decorative zipper end,
  • A 4 mm hole punch for the grommets,
  • Four 4 mm grommets,
  • Four 1″ rectangle rings OR 1″ oval rings,
  • One ¾” buckle,
  • Four medium rivets (optional),
  • Four long rivets,
  • Decorative name/handmade plate (optional),
  • ⅛” – ¼” cotton cording,
  • Optional interior zipper pocket – One 8″ #3 zipper or 8″ of #3 zipper tape with a #3 pull, and a small scrap (9″ by 3″) of non-fraying material for the overlay,
  • Optional interior slip pocket – A small scrap (1¼” by 9″) of non-fraying material for the slip pocket binding,
  • Optional SVG bow accessory – A small scrap of non-fraying material 1/2” swivel clasp, and one medium rivet,
  • Special tools recommended:
  • A rivet press and punch tools for rivets and grommets,
  • A 1″ long leather buckle punch tool,
  • Piping foot or welting foot for the size cording you are using. This is for sewing the strands for your braided straps. The designer says it’s not required, but your results will be much better if you have one,
  • Edge sealer and paints as well as applicator,
  • Basic sewing supplies,
  • A sewing machine.
