Urban Tote Bag sewing pattern (2 versions with video)

The Urban Tote Bag is an addition to the popular other Urban bag – the original Urban Adventure Crossbody version. Bigger in size, the tote is great as a shoulder or hand-carry bag. With a short handle and long strap, the bag is attractive as a crossbody too. It can accommodate more items thus suitable for work or travel.

The pattern comes in two versions – Quick Sew & Complete – to cater to the bag makers’ preferences.

The minimalist design is beginner-friendly and a quick sew too. All pieces are rectangular in shape thus minimizing your cutting time. The tote bag has two top closing options – recessed zipper or magnetic snap.

Skill Level:
Ambitious beginner / Intermediate

Sizing info:
12 inches (30 cm) high by 13 inches (32.5 cm) long by 3 inches (7.5 cm) wide.

Video tutorial:

There are sew-along videos produced for each of the two versions of this bag. This first one is for the quick sew version.

And for the complete version, another full video sew-along (although the thumbnail appears to be incorrect and says quick sew, this video is for the complete version). The complete version of the bag has the longer adjustable strap as well as the hand carry straps, a recessed zipper closure instead of a magnetic snap closure, and an additional external zipper pocket on the back of the bag.
