We think you will love this Sleep Over Tote Bag for your kids but its's so lovely you can also make one from the pattern for yourself.

The fabulous designer (Gingercake Patterns) of this pattern made this beautiful handmade Sleep Over Tote Bag for her own kids.

As she says – “As my kids grow older, our weekends are filled with soccer games and piano lessons, baseball tournaments and birthday parties, afternoons with grandma and spend the nights with friends and cousins. We really needed something to tote all this stuff around. Somethings kids could pack themselves and close up tight so things were not misplaced and forgotten. Something that would look great stuffed to the brim or with just a few special items in it. The solution, a Sleep Over Tote Bag”.

This bag is perfect for sleepovers but also for carrying all sorts of other things both for your kids or for yourself. You can see that it will work great for picnics and beach excursions as well.

It is a large and sturdy bag but not big and bulky. It works perfectly for weekend travel and stores easily when not in use. The Sleep Over Tote Bag is simple to make but has lovely professional details like special handles, drawstring closure and large interior pockets.

This is a great beginner project and experienced sewers will love the options for altering the pattern to suit their own needs.

We think you’ll really love this wonderful tote bag and it only uses a full half yard piece of fabric for the exterior and a full half yard piece for the lining, so there is very little fabric waste. As a bonus, it only has 2 pattern pieces to print and cut out and there is no taping required. The large interior pockets are optional.

When finished the bag measures approximately 17” by 20” not including the handles.
