Sedron Backpack sewing pattern (with video)

The Sedron is a great backpack for teenagers and adults alike and was designed by Adam, as he wanted a bag particularly suited to men. However, I think it’s a great bag for everyone!

It’s sized to fit a standard paper binder and a medium-sized laptop. Instructions are included for an interior bottle pocket, exterior and interior zip pockets, and a laptop strap. The bag doesn’t include padding for a laptop, but the strap is designed to hold a laptop that’s within a protective sleeve.

The bag also features a small grab handle that’s built into the straps. This grab handle is designed to fit 2 or 3 fingers and is suitable for grabbing the bag but not designed for hanging or holding it.

Sizing info:
Finished size: 15 1/2″ high by 12″ wide by 5 1/2″ deep (40cm high by 30cm wide by 14cm deep).

Skill level:
We’ve rated this awesome unisex backpack as intermediate. It’s a massive bag, which takes some time to construct. You’ll need to have some bag-making experience to create this bag.

Materials needed:
Due to the size, we recommend using waxed canvas, cork, or vinyl (12oz/400gsm) for the exterior fabric and heavyweight (18oz/600gsm) waterproof canvas for the lining. Using these materials means you won’t need to interface anything and will only need a small amount of stabilizer. This keeps the cost down and also saves you time.
