The designer, Very Shannon, says it’s a super quick and easy sew that is suitable for a beginner sewer! There’s plenty of scope for you to customize your bag. If you want more pockets or ones with a zipper or velcro, then go ahead and add them on. If you want a quilted look, then skip the interfacing and add batting instead and quilt it to your outer bag fabric for a custom look. Or you could even color block your tote bag. There are so many options. That way you’ll be able to make lots and lots with some looking quite different.
Sizing info:
When you have finished making yourself a Reversible Box Tote Bag it will measure approximately 8″ high (14″ high including the handle) by 17″ wide.
What you will need to make a Reversible Box Tote Bag:-
- A Reversible Box Tote Pattern piece of fabric – 35″ wide by 18″ high (or 35″ wide by 36″ high for both outer and lining fabric),
- A pocket pattern piece of fabric – 38″ wide by 6″ high (or 9.5″ wide by 24″ high),
- Interfacing – 35″ wide by 18″ high. The designer used firm fusible interfacing – Pellon 809 Decor-bond,
- A rotary cutter with mat,
- Co-ordinating thread,
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
The fabric requirements listed above vary based on your fabric selection and the placement of your fabric. Please note that the requirements given are for non-directional prints only. Directional prints may require more fabric. Please plan accordingly when purchasing fabric. All requirements are based on 45”/115cm width fabric.
