The Planetary Backpack is a relaxed drawstring backpack with a top cover flap and an easy-access outer front pocket.
Sizing info:
A midsized backpack (approximate finished internal dimensions: 370mm (14 ½ inches) tall by 420mm (16 ½ inches) wide) perfect for a trip to the park or all the essentials needed for your little one’s first trip to outer space!
Skill level:
The designer rates her project as suitable for an Advanced Beginner sewer. It comes with a few challenges but she is sure it is nothing you can’t handle! You’ll need to be able to handle multiple layers of fabric. However, don’t worry, the pattern comes with an excellent detailed PDF tutorial.
What’s needed to make a Planetary Backpack:
- Oilskin/waxed canvas, mid-heavy weight canvas, a stable mid/heavyweight linen, corduroy, twill, denim for the outer fabric,
- Medium-lightweight cotton, quilting cotton, linen for the lining,
- 3m by 25mm (1″) webbing,
- Interfacing,
- Bondaweb – optional,
- Three 25mm (1″) D-rings,
- Three 25mm (1″) adjustable sliders,
- One 25mm (1″) Swivel Hook/Side Release Buckle,
- 1.2m of Draw String,
- Two Eyelet Grommets,
- Snap Fixing,
- Denim needle/needle suitable for your fabric choice.
