Patchwork Totebag FREE sewing tutorial
|This is a Patchwork Totebag FREE sewing tutorial from the popular designer Sweet Bee Buzzings.
So now is your chance to sew a cute patchwork Tote Bag. When making it you can use scraps, yardage, fat quarters, whatever you’ve got that you want to use. Make it bright, bold and carefree by mixing strong colors, bold prints, and colors that ‘don’t go’. Or make it pretty and casual in soft pastels and small prints for a country cottage style.
When the designer made this bag she used four fat quarters, a half yard for the lining (more if it’s a directional fabric), a half yard of fusible fleece, and a piece of plastic canvas to make a rigid bottom (optional). Add in a few other basic sewing items and you are ready to go.
The designer has a few rules that you should follow. You should backstitch at the beginning and end of every seam. And you should use a quarter-inch seam allowance unless she indicates otherwise.
