Sewing pattern for the Kindred Bag (3 sizes and video)

A unisex crossbody bag to sew with adjustable strap, in three size variations. Each bag is beautiful in its own way, perfectly proportioned, and features a useful outside large slip pocket. The interiors are fully lining and there is a zip pocket on one side of the lining and card slots on the other. Piping adds character and helps keep the bag in shape. Sew the large bag in a solid color to make a great bag for your guy.

Enjoy a quick preview of the Kindred Bag in the video below.

This pattern comes with a full video step by step tutorial included – the link is included in the pattern directions.

Sizing info:
The Kindred Bag can be made up into three different sizes:-

  • The Small Size Kindred Bag with slim side panels has finished dimensions of 8 1/2″ (21.6 cm) high by 6″ (15.25 cm) wide by 2 1/4″ (5.7 cm) deep. This is the smallest of the bags, and is rather slim!
  • The Small Size Kindred Bag with wide side panels has finished dimensions of 8 1/2″ (21.6 cm) high by 6″ (15.25 cm) wide by 3″ (7.6 cm) deep. This a roomier bag inside and out.
  • And the Large Kindred Bag has finished dimensions of 12″ (30.5 cm) high by 8 1/2″ (21.6 cm) wide by 3″ (7.6 cm) deep. This larger bag has plenty of room.

Skill level:
The bag featured in this pattern was made on a domestic sewing machine, and whilst both the pattern and video comprise detailed step-by-step instructions to guide you through the entire making process, this pattern is intended for users who are competent using their sewing machine, and have some basic knowledge of sewing terminology.

Also note that when making up the small slim version of the Kindred Bag, handling the slim side and zip panels calls for absolute precision and accuracy with little room for error. This can be considered a challenging sew, and therefore is most suitable for experienced, confident sewists.
