Skill level:
The designer rates her project as suitable for the very beginner bag/box making sewist. These boxes are easy and quick to make helped by the excellent step-by-step instructions with lots of color photos.

When you have finished making your very own Fabric Storage Boxes they will measure approximately:-

  1. Large box = 5″ (12.5 cm) by 5” (12.5 cm).
  2. Medium box = 4″ (10 cm) by 4” (10 cm).
  3. Small box = 3″ (7.5 cm) by 3” (7.5 cm).

What’s needed to make these Fabric Storage Boxes:-

  • 0.5 yard (50 cm) of non directional cotton exterior fabric is enough for all 3 boxes.
  • 0.5 yard (50 cm) of non directional cotton lining exterior fabric is enough for all 3 boxes.
  • A piece 18″ (45 cm) by 22” (55 cm) of heavy-weight, fusible interfacing such as Fast 2 Fuse Heavy, Pellon 72F Peltex 2 Sided Fusible or Pellon 71F Peltex if you prefer one sided fusible, however, then you won’t be able to fuse the lining for that crisp look.
  • 0.5 yard (50 cm) of lightweight fusible interfacing such as Vilene G700 woven fusible, Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex or similar.
  • Six buttons 3/4” (1.9 cm) in diameter or bigger, they need to be this big to close the gap between the folds, to not let the elastic show. Two buttons are used for each box.
  • 24” (60 cm) round elastic, slimmer is better, or cut up thin round elastic hair bands to get colors to match your fabric. 8” (20 cm) is used for each box.
  • A rotary cutter, cutting mat & ruler.
  • Fabric glue.
  • Basic sewing supplies,
  • A sewing machine.
