This is the Brooklyn Handbag & Traveler Bag which is classic and professional with a downtown edge. This bag combines high-end detail with a practical functionality. The extra-long zipper opens wide for easy access while the side clips provide its stylish figure. This bag features an optional removable shoulder strap and an interior zippered pocket. There are two sizes included in the pattern, as follows:
- Handbag: 11″ by 7″ by 5″
- Traveler: 16″ by 10″ by 7″.
There are options and instructions included for using either fabric or leather/vinyl for the accents and handles for the bag. It looks great with either.
What you will need to make the Handbag size bag:
- 1/4 yard of 44″ wide quilting weight cotton, or a fat quarter
- 1/2 yard of 44″ wide quilting weight cotton for the lining fabric
- 1/3 yard of contrasting fabric, woven or vinyl
- 1/2 yard of foam interfacing (Pellon Flexfoam FF77)
- 1/2 yard of fusible heavy stabilizer (Pellon Peltex 71F)
- 2 yards of fusible woven interfacing (Pellon Shapeflex SF101)
- 1/2 yard of fusible web (optional) (Pellon Wonder-Under 805)
- 3/4″ swivel clips – see our resources page for our recommended hardware suppliers
- 3/4″ D-rings
- 3/4″ rectangle rings
- 12″ all-purpose zipper (main compartment)
- 7″ all-purpose zipper (zippered pocket)
- Fabric glue (Beacon Fabritac)
- Coordinating thread
- Basic sewing supplies
- Sewing machine.
