Bonnie Bucket Bag sewing pattern
Swoon patterns, one of our favorite designers, does it again with this excellent casual shoulder bag pattern. The Bonnie Bucket Bag is a slouchy hobo-style bag featuring a recessed zipper main closure and exterior double welt pocket.
You can display two different fabric prints on the exterior, or give her a store-bought look by using one fabric for the exterior with contrasting topstitching. The oval-shaped bottom allows room for nearly anything.
In order to make this beautiful bag, you should already be somewhat familiar with sewing patterns and common sewing terms. You can however always rely on Swoon patterns to be very well written with excellent step-by-step instructions for cutting and sewing. In the event you get stuck, there is a very active facebook chat group with Swoon enthusiasts to help you.
When finished the Bonnie Bucket Bag will be 14″ wide at the top, 12″ tall, and 6″ deep. What you will need to make the Bonnie Bucket Bag:-
- 1/2 yard 44” wide quilting weight fabric for the main exterior
- 1/2 yard 44” wide quilting weight fabric (or solid) for the basic exterior
- 2/3 yards 44” wide quilting weight fabric for the lining
- 2 1/2 yards of woven fusible interfacing (Pellon Shape-flex SF-101)
- 1/4 yard of heavy sew-in stabilizer (Pellon Peltex 70)
- One 15” (or longer) all-purpose zipper for the main compartment
- One 7” all-purpose zipper for the welt pocket (zipper is optional)
- Two 1.5” o-rings or 1” rectangle loops
- Coordinating thread
- Basic sewing supplies
- Sewing machine.
