We’re delighted to share with you the pretty sewing pattern for the Bella II Handbag Purse from the designer Chris W Designs.

The Bella II is not only practical, but it’s also super roomy and fun with loads of pockets. It features four exterior front slip pockets, a zippered exterior back pocket, and a recessed zipper closure for your main compartment.

Inside you will find another zipper pocket, three slip pockets as well as a pen pocket to keep all your goodies super organized.

The designer is sure that you will love the Bella II for both its stylish good looks and versatility. You can dress it up with lots of yummy hardware and ribbons etc or dress it down. Either way, nobody will believe you made this lovely bag yourself!

Sizing info:
When you make yourself a Bella II Handbag Purse it will measure approximately 12¼” (31 cm) by 10″ (25 cm) by 4″ (10 cm).

Skill level:
The designer rates their project as suitable for an intermediate sewer.

What you will need to make a Bella II Handbag Purse:-

  • (Note yardage is meant as a guide and may not be exact),
  • Exterior main fabric: 1-yard (90 cm) of 44″ (112 cm) wide fabric,
  • Feature fabric: 1/2 a yard (45 cm) of 44″ (112 cm) wide fabric,
  • Lining fabric: 1 1/4 yards (115 cm) of 44″ (112 cm) wide fabric,
  • Fusible interfacing: SF101, 4 yards (3 1/2 meters),
  • Fusible fleece: Pellon TP971F Fusible Thermolam Plus; or Vilene H 640, 16″ (40 cm),
  • One piece of firm single-sided fusible Peltex – 11″ (28 cm) wide by 4″ (10 cm) high for the base (or, alternatively, you can use any similar firm single-sided fusible stabilizer),
  • Matching thread (The designer used Aurifil Cotton 40wt),
  • One 9″ (23 cm) or longer handbag zipper to match the exterior,
  • One 17″ (43 cm) handbag or longer zipper to match the exterior,
  • One 8″ (20 cm) dress zipper to match the lining,
  • Four 1 1/2″ (4 cm) eye size snap hooks,
  • Twelver 13/32″ (10 mm) grommets (eight of which are for the Optional Front pocket decoration),
  • One metal zipper end (optional),
  • 40″ (One meter) of ribbon, cord, or other strapping for your front pocket decoration (Optional),
  • Four 1/2″ (12 mm) bag feet (Optional),
  • Eight 8mm cap by 6mm post rivets (Optional),
  • Double-sided wonder tape (Optional),
  • Basic sewing supplies,
  • A sewing machine.

The pdf pattern for the Bella II has a full requirements list with suggestions on where to obtain hardware. There are thirty-six pages of comprehensive instructions which include eighty-two step-by-step color photos.

There are printing instructions and test squares to check your scale. Cutting measurements are provided plus thirteen pattern pieces are included. You choose which you prefer to use. (Except where a pattern piece is required such as for a shaped piece).

There is also a text-only version of the instructions (eight pages) that comes bundled with your pattern for printing purposes, should you not need or wish to print all of the photos. Simply refer to your electronic versions for photos if needed. This is a great way of saving on ink!
