This is the FREE Baguette Bag sewing pattern and tutorial from the designer Pattern Poole.

This is a stylish and timeless handbag. The designer says I love this bag, it’s so cute and stylish! I just throw in my lipstick, phone and keys, tuck it under my arm and head out for a lunch date with friends. I get so many compliments and people can’t believe that I made it myself.

She goes onto say that she loves how this bag sits up and holds it shape, the secret is the foam interfacing or stabiliser. I prefer a sew-in to a fusible and I show my tips for working with it in the video. From one 18” by 58” pack you’ll be able to make four bags.

So what is a Baguette Bag? The designer checked it out and found out the following information. A Baguette is a small compact handbag that is carried on a short strap, it was originally designed by Italian fashion company Fendi in 1997. The Baguette was a huge trend in the late 1990s and early 2000s and could be found in an array of colours and textures. In recent years, the Baguette has made a comeback!

This is the designer’s version. It’s a stylish shape with a top curved zipper, rounded at the bottom, with a side gusset and a gathered strap. It’s a basic shape for you to personalize in your own way; add some pockets or change up the strap, it’s up to you!

When you finish making your very own Baguette Bag it will measure approximately 15 cm (6”) high by 23.5 cm (9¼”) wide.

Besides producing a fantastic written tutorial the designer has also made a 22-minute video tutorial showing you how to make Her Baguette Bag. You can watch her YouTube video below.
