Arabesque Bag FREE sewing pattern
|We love the combination of zipper bag with purse in this Arabesque Bag sewing pattern from Sew Sweetness. This handbag or shoulder bag sewing pattern is basically a large zipper pouch with handles – such a simple idea but why not!
This is a beginner-friendly pattern and could be made with your fabric scraps or pieced together to create a patchwork design, or simply use one of your favorite large scale fabric prints.
It has a top-zip closure, and two topstitched pockets on the inside of the bag. The bag is only front/back (no sides), so that’s why it goes together quickly and easily. There are bottom gussets, which give it a 4″ depth. Adding the decorative ribbons is optional, but Sarah does give direction in the pattern on how and when to attach them, in case you do want to use them in your bag.
This bag works well quilted. We used headliner fabric and quilted the fabric to the foam before sewing it all together and love the result. Give it a try! Nice and light but plenty of body to it and padded to protect what’s inside.
