Voyage Handbag sewing pattern
We are delighted to share with you the super-smart Voyage Handbag pdf sewing pattern from the designer Maggy55 Patterns. The Voyage handbag is an inspiration born from the designer’s full-sized Journey Travel Bag.
This fantastic bag has a high-end classy designer look with the functionality of a great handbag. It is the perfect travel companion for the Journey Travel Bag.
This soft-sided bag features a front exterior pocket for those easy access items and a zippered pocket on the back to keep those personal items safe and secure.
There are decorative bag feet on the base, the shoulder straps have a 10″ drop, with an optional crossbody strap available.
The interior has a trimmed zipper pocket on the one side and a three-sectioned slip pocket for cell phone, pen, and sunglasses on the other side. You can keep your keys close at hand with an optional key fob.
This listing is for two pdf patterns to make the Voyage Handbag, one is for vinyl/fabric, and the other is for leather. So if you aren’t yet comfortable with sewing a complete vinyl bag, then sew the body in fabric and reserve the vinyl for the accents and handles.

Sizing info:
When you have finished making your very own Voyage Handbag it will measure approximately 13½” wide by 10½” high by 4″ deep.
The designer mentions that this pattern does not have a full video tutorial, however, it does include a few videos to help in areas where a visual is helpful in addition to the written instructions.
What is needed for the VINYL/FABRIC version:
- ½ yard of vinyl or fabric for the outer (canvas, decorator fabric, and heavier weight is suitable based on 54″ wide),
- 14″ of vinyl for straps, facing, zipper placket, and zipper overlays (based on 54” wide),
- 1 yard of lining fabric – 44″ wide fabric.
- 2 yards of 20″ medium weight fusible interfacing, or 1 yard of 44″ wide,
- 2 yards of 20″ medium weight fusible interfacing, or 1 yard of 44″ wide (optional for exterior fabric),
- Bontex – four pieces 1″ by 3″ (strap supports),
- Bontex – one piece 3¼” by 13″ (base support),
- Foam(Peltex) – one piece 4¼” by 13½” (interior base),
- Decovil light – ¼ yard (based on 36″ wide),
- Decovil heavy – one-piece 4⅛” by 13⅛” (base support),
- # 5 nylon/metal zippers – one @ 7″ (teeth length*-back exterior), one @ 16″ (top exterior),
- # 3 nylon zippers – one @ 7″ (teeth length*-interior zipper pocket),
- Fourteen 9.2 mm – 11 mm double capped rivets OR fourteen Chicago screws (make sure you have a variety of post lengths available, as thickness will vary),
- Four 1″ D-rings (or any 1″ strap connectors),
