Trick or Treat Tote Bag video sewing tutorial

This is the Trick or Treat Tote Bag video sewing tutorial from the designer Be Mandy Things.

This tutorial shows you how to sew a tote using charm pack squares and yardage, perfect for a custom Trick or Treat bag, library tote, project bag or child size tote.

The designer used a charm pack from Ruby Star Society’s collection, Spooky Darlings, along with yardage from Sugar by RSS and Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Solids. She was able to make three totes out of one Charm Pack, ½ a yard of outer fabric, and 1½ yards of lining fabric.

The designer says this video is great for beginner or advanced sewists. You should remember to pause the video to read the captions as needed. This tutorial assumes viewers have at least an introductory beginner knowledge in sewing.

What’s needed to make a Trick or Treat Tote Bag:

  • One Charm Pack or pre-cut 5″ squares of fabric,
  • ¼ yard of accent fabric for the top exterior band – cut two at 6″ by 14″,
  • ½ yard for your lining – cut two at 14″ by 15″,
  • 1″ webbing or a pre-made strap 1″ wide, total of 42″ – cut two 1″ by 21″.

SA = seam allowance.
RST = right sides together.

NOTE – there is no sewing pattern download or written tutorial for this project. Simply cut and sew your fabrics according to the tutorial video above. Ideal if you don’t have a printer at home.
