The Zip Around Wallet pattern
You don’t always need to create a big bag to make it something really useful that you will use every day. This Zip Around Wallet pattern from Studio Cherie is perfect for everyday use, and we bet this would also make a perfect project for sew-to-sell as well.
We can see people of all ages loving this bag, from teens to your grandmother.
Saying that though, the designer has said that if you want to sew this small bag it isn’t for beginners, so only intermediate and above might want to tackle this project. But we think the end result would be certainly worth that little bit of extra effort.
This wristlet wallet has been designed to fit smartphones, credit cards, ID, cash and change. It’s perfect for popping out to the shops, the school run, or a casual dinner date.
The designer has given you lots of pocket options for the Zip Around Wallet:
- The zippered outside pocket fits an iPhone but not if it is inside a non-slip rubber skin,
- A Velcro or snap outer pocket fits an iPhone in a rubber skin,
- An ID window outer pocket option,
- Three credit card inside pockets,
- One zippered hinged change pocket – that is a fun thing to learn,
- Two money or coupon pockets.
When you have finished making yourself The Zip Around Wallet it will measure approximately 5¾” by 3¾” by 1″.
What you will need to make a Zip Around Wallet:
- 1/3 yard of fabric,
- 6″ of Duck Canvas,
- One package of Wright’s piping,
- Three zippers,
- A snap clip and split ring
- If you want to do the ID window you will need some clear vinyl and a small piece of Peltex 72,
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
The designer of the Zip Around Wallet is extremely proud of her wallet. She says – “It is the most professionally made zip around wallet you will ever see. I am confident in saying it is made better than most of the bags you can find in stores. I have shopped around to try to get a factory to make my Kindle Fire cases so I could sell them on Amazon and they won’t do it because of the detail I demand. Factories take shortcuts, I don’t. You will be making zip around wallets that are so much better than any that are factory-made”.
