|This is the Winslow Tote Bag pdf sewing pattern from the designer Center Street Quilts. As you might expect – it’s quilted! Quilting a tote bag makes it strong and sturdy, soft and padded, helps it to hold a nice shape, and of course adds to the design too.
Don’t worry if you haven’t quilted before. There’s no magic or mystery to it. Simply layer your fabrics and batting or foam and sew through all layers at once to join them together. Free motion quilting is fun for the more experienced, but beginners can get beautiful results just quilting in straight lines.

Sizing info:
When you have made one of your own Winslow Tote Bags it will measure approximately 12″ wide at the bottom, 16″ wide at the top, 12″ tall, and 5″ deep.
What’s needed to make a Winslow Tote Bag:-
- ⅓ yard of main fabric,
- ⅓ yard of accent fabric,
- ½ yard of lining fabric,
- A piece of foam stabilizer or batting measuring 20″ by 36″. A foam stabilizer (such as Soft and Stable or Pellon Flex Foam) will provide more structure and a sturdier shape tahn Batting. Batting will create a tote with a looser structure, less bulk, and easier to fold for storage,
- 1½ yards (of 20″ wide stabilizer) lightweight fusible interfacing (such as Pellon SF101),
- Basic seewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
Non directional fabrics work best for the main/accent/lining fabrics. Dircetional prints may require more fabric.
