THE SLING BAG PROJECT – PATTERN & VIDEO TUTORIAL

Yoan has created the cutest sling bag pattern. Small in size but big enough to carry your essentials for a full day out. It can be worn in many different ways and I think this is the perfect bag for traveling, walking around the city, or a day on the beach. The nesting doll fabric she chose is so cute, and she showed it off well with her pattern piece placement.

The bag has clean lines, with very nice details that also have a little bit of whimsy. I love this sling bag and think it is so stylish.

This bag measures about 10″ x 7″ x 2 3/4″.

Features include a front exterior pocket, interior elasticated slip pocket, interior zipper pocket, zipper closure, and adjustable strap.

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS SLING BAG
FABRIC
For the bag exterior, you will need about 3/8 yard of cotton quilting fabric (fabric 1)

For the interior of the bag, you will need about 1/2 yard of cotton quilting fabric (fabric 2).

INTERFACING & STABILIZER
Mid-Weight/ Firm Stabilizer is applied to some of the main panels, to give structure to the bag.

Fusible Woven Interfacing is what we use to add extra weight to some of the exterior panels without adding too much bulk.

ZIPPERS
14″ long metal zipper for the zipper closure.
At least  6” long nylon coil zipper for the interior zipper pocket.

HARDWARE
D-rings 1″ (2.5cm) inner measurements 2x
Swivel hooks 1″ (2.5cm) inner measurements
Adjustable strap slider 1″ (2.5mm) inner measurement

OTHER
1/4″ wide elastic about 8″ long for the interior slip pocket.
1″ (2.5 cm) wide webbing strap about 55″ (140cm) long.
