This is the Aries Crossbody Bag cute shoulder purse pdf sewing pattern from the designer Knotted Threads Co.

The designer describes her Aries Crossbody as a classic shape that brings functionality to everyday wear.

Aries has two curved top zippered pockets, an easily accessible center gusset area, and an internal zippered pocket that offers clever organization without sacrificing style.

This softly structured bag means it will stand well on its own while also being flexible and comfortable to wear.

The designer rates her sewing project as suitable for intermediate sewers but she says that confident beginner sewers may find this a welcome challenge!

Sizing info:
When you have finished making your very own Aries Crossbody Bag it will measure approximately 10.5″ wide by 6″ high by 3.5″ deep.

Video tutorial available:
Besides giving you a written tutorial the designer has also produced a full in-depth 2-hour 17-minute YouTube video tutorial showing you how to make her Aries Crossbody Bag that you can watch below.

What’s needed to make an Aries Crossbody Bag:

  • 12ʺ by 53ʺ light/medium-weight Cork/Vinyl/Faux leather for the exterior fabric. (directional designs will require more). A soft-bodied vinyl will give you the best results! You can substitute woven for most of the exterior, but you will need at least a small amount of non-fraying material for some parts. Be sure to further interface the woven material as needed.
  • For the lining/zipper pocket lining fabric you will need ¼ yard of woven fabric or waterproof canvas. If using waterproof canvas, there is no need to interface those pieces with woven interfacing. This tutorial is written using woven for the lining.
  • For the interfacing/stabilizer you will need ¼ yard of fusible fleece (Pellon 971F). If you want a little more structure, use Decovil Light in place of fleece. You’ll also need ½ yard of woven interfacing (Pellon SF101 or equivalent) and medium/heavyweight interfacing scraps (Decovil Light or equivalent).
  • Two 1ʺ -or- ¾ʺ D-Rings.
  • Two 1ʺ -or- ¾ʺ Swivel Snap Hooks.
  • One 1ʺ -or- ¾ʺ Triglide (Strap Adjuster).
  • 27.5ʺ #5 Continuous Nylon Zipper Tape.
  • Three #5 Zipper Pulls.
  • One 18 mm -or- 14 mm Magnetic Snap.
  • Four 8 mm Double Cap Rivets.
  • Optional – two strap ends, brand label, woven label, & handmade label. You can substitute the Snap Hooks and Triglide for a crossbody or shoulder chain strap. Bonus strap style material needs are listed inside the pattern.
  • A Leather Edge Paint & Applicator, Strong 1/8ʺ Double-Sided Tape, a Zipper Presser Foot, a Clear Acrylic Quilting Ruler, Wonder Clips, Heat Erasable Fabric Pen, a Regular Ink Pen, Pinking Shears, a tandard Leather Hole Punch, Rivet Setting Tools, Stapler & Staple Remover, Seam Ripper/Blade, Duct Tape, Lighter, and Fabric Glue.
  • A sewing machine.
