Mini Me White Purse FREE Sewing Pattern
Here’s a FREE pattern and tutorial for a really amazing looking purse, it’s called the Mini Me White Purse.
The designer originally saw and purchased a wonderful purse with chunky silver strap hardware, black trim and gold topstitching. The bag she purchased was a great size for travel but she wished it was smaller, something that she might be able to use every day. So she decided to use the fabulous clip-on strap but make a similar purse in a smaller size. That was her inspiration for the Mini Me White Purse.
She said she was lucky to find vinyl to match the original strap. So she took that purchased vinyl and made some minor adjustments to the original bag, the most visible being the squared bottom corner accent pieces. She was unable to perfectly topstitch around the curved vinyl pieces, even using her Teflon presser foot. If you have a technique for doing so, please share it with her. If you scroll to the bottom of her post you’ll see a lady called Kay had a suggestion. Nevertheless, she is delighted with her creation and so are we.
As far as pockets on the bag are concerned, there are no outside pockets, all of the pockets have been built into the lining, along with a clip to hold your car keys.
The original purse measured 16” by 12”, but the Mini Me White Purse is smaller at 10” by 9”.
What you will need to make the Mini Me White Purse:-
- 1/3 of a yard of vinyl,
- 1/3 of a yard of cotton lining plus more for some special pocket treatments,
- 1/3 of a yard of headliner fabric for shaping,
- 24″ by 6″ of fusible interfacing,
- 24″ of black double-fold bias tape,
- Two silver grommets,
- Purchased/reclaimed strap – or make your own,
- One magnetic clasp,
- Wonder Clips,
- Optional extras – leather needle, Teflon presser foot,
- Basic sewing supplies,
- Sewing machine.
