Here’s a great FREE pattern to make the Flip Flop Messenger Bag. This roomy tote is designed with a loose structure so that when you are not using this bag it can be easily folded and stowed away. When making the Flip Flop Messenger Bag you can either use your favorite large prints or use lots of strips from a jelly roll. The pdf pattern includes directions for both options.
The finished size of the bag is 16″ wide at the base by 4″ deep by 18″ tall with the flap extended.
What you need to make the Flip Flop Messenger Bag
- Quilting cottons – 2 1/2″ x WOF strips (8 to 10 strips) Cut your own or get one of these jelly rolls
- OR 20″ x 41″ nondirectional print OR (2) 20″ x 20 1/2″ directional print
- Quilting cotton – 1/8 yard coordinating print, if using only 8 – 2 1/2″ strips
- Coordinating print for the lining
- Fusible Fleece
- Fusible Mediumweight Interfacing
- One zipper
- Two D rings
- Sewing machine and basic sewing supplies
