Ferndown Jewelry Pouch sewing pattern

This easy to sew small jewelry pouch is the ideal gift to sew for your friends, or just perfect for sew-to-sell projects. It only requires fabric and a drawstring or ribbon, so is very affordable to make and doesn’t need fancy hardware or interfacing. Add a special item of jewelry and it makes a lovely handmade and personal gift.

But of course there is no need to give it away! Sew one for yourself and use it to store your jewelry items, or take them with you when you travel.

Inside you’ll find 8 individual pockets for storing small items such as chains, pendants, earrings and brooches. The round base has plenty of room for bangles and chunkier items.

It closes up securely at the top with a double dawstring cinch closure, making sure nothing will fall out. The ideal way to store jewelry at home or for travel without things getting tangled, broken, dirty or lost.

Recommended materials for the Ferndown Jewelry Pouch sewing pattern

This pouch can be sewn with any light to medium weight non-stretch fabrics. I recommend quilting weight cottons, but even old cotton bedsheets and pillow cases or old shirts can be cut up and used to sew these easy drawstring bags. More experienced sewers can use fancy fabrics such as silk, satin or crepe de chine. These fabrics can be very floaty and slippery and are not easy to work with if you are a beginner, but can make gorgeous and luxurious bags that are ideal for gift bags or storing special items.

For the drawstrings I suggest a satin ribbon, but a medium weight cording can be used too – sewers choice.

Designed as a jewelry pouch, but ideal for so much more. Take cosmetics or other small items, then open out flat and everything is neat, easy to find and easy to use. I’ve used one as a travel craft bag filled with jewelry making supplies and tools too!

Great gifts for friends or family, a quick and easy sew when you just need to get something done today, and no expensive materials needed. And yes, you can ‘sew to sell’ these too if you have an Etsy store or sell at craft fairs.
