The designer has made a fun Mermaid (or dragon) Tote Bag perfect for carrying books to and from wherever you may be going. Kids (and plenty of adults I know too) are going to love this fun bag with the shimmery scales. We love how you can theme it in colors for mermaids or dragons to make it just right.
My neice is going to go crazy when I show her this pattern and we have fun picking out the colors for the scales from my fabric scraps bag. There are some gorgeous shimmering and irridescent mermaid scales fabrics available too, so I’m tempted to go full-out and make a bag that will really turn heads. And that one will be for me!
It has fun 3D scales and a pull-string top so the books or other bits and pieces don’t topple out as the kids run about.
What’s needed to make a Fabric Mermaid Book Bag:-
- HeatnBond Medium Weight Interfacing,
- HeatnBond Fusible Fleece,
- Fabric – the Scales and tie close top were made using Riley Blake Confetti Cotton. While the lining and the outer bag used quilting cotton. Check it out here for some awesome MERMAID FABRICS!
- Two pieces of cotton webbing for the handles measuring 1½” wide by 13″ long,
- Cotton or acrylic rope for the ties measuring 3/16″ by 40″,
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
