Easy Beginner Sling Bag sewing pattern
This is a cool, fun sling bag sewing pattern that has been designed for beginner sewers by a most talented designer.
The Easy Beginner Sling Bag pattern is as its name suggests easily put together. It’s one of those bags that every woman/girl should own. It’s super fun and casual and will hold all your essentials and more.
There is one patch pocket inside the bag and to close it there is a simple magnetic snap on the flap. With the flap, you can take the easy way out and make the flap with the same fabric as the exterior fabric, or if you prefer you can make it with a contrasting fabric, to add a pop of color or showcase a favorite print.
One end of the long sling shoulder strap is tied to a large wooden or metal ring. The ring is a fun design feature of this bag. However, of course the ring feature is optional and you could create a straightforward adjustable strap or even a fixed length strap if you prefer.

What you will need to make this Easy Beginner Sling Bag:
- 1½ yards (1.5 m) of fabric for the exterior,
- ½ yard (0.5 meter) of fabric lining,
- Under 1 fat quarter of 2 different fabrics for the patchwork flap,
- Fusible interfacing
- One ½” (1.4 cm) magnetic snap,
- One wooden/metal ring about 2″ (5 cm) in diameter,
- An all-purpose foot,
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
