Quilted Zipper Pouch FREE sewing pattern
|Here’s a Quilted Zipper Pouch sewing pattern from the Fort Worth Fabric Studio. They have very kindly given us all this great project to sew for free. This quilted look is really popular for these simple zipper bags and I’m sure you can name the popular range of bags that have that quilted look. Now you can sew your own!
The designer promises that her project is as easy as it gets when installing a zipper. This is a great starting point when learning how to install zippers. The fabrics are quilted, outer and lining, before adding the zipper. This does make the bag a very quick and easy sew, but do be aware the inside seams are unfinished, so you’ll want to neaten them with a zig-zag or overcasting stitch. A serger would be great too.
The designer decided to quilt her pouch to give it extra texture and also so you wouldn’t have to use interfacing and could use quilt batting. Fusible fleece would also be a good option.
Oh, and did you spot the designer’s mistake. Do you see how the birds are facing the wrong direction? She decided not to re-do the pouch so that everyone could learn from her mistake! When working with directional fabric you really do need to be extra careful.
What’s needed to make a Quilted Zipper Pouch:-
- A piece of outer fabric 12″ by 19″,
- A piece of lining fabric 12″ by 19″,
- A piece of batting 12″ by 19″,
- One 9″ zipper,
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
