Mack Messenger Backpack pattern
|The designer of this bag has a motto, which is “Mackerilla Design – where a good bag is never hard to find”.
Well, this bag is definitely a good one! It’s called the Mack Messenger Backpack and it is, as the name suggests, a messenger bag that can be worn as a backpack. We love any kind of convertible bag, and especially those which can be worn to allow you to carry them hands-free. So handy for our busy lives today.
You can relieve shoulder strain from carrying a heavy bag on one shoulder with this clever idea. You can make your own roomy versatile backpack to carry your books, laptop, work stuff or if you want you could also use the Mack Messenger Backpack as a baby diaper bag.
The main features of the Mack Messenger Backpack are as follows:
- Two adjustable backpack straps
- A single top “quick grab” handle
- A zippered front pocket under a magnetic top flap
- A large interior compartment with a split pocket and pencil/pen slots.
Just cinch up the backpack straps if you don’t want to use them, so they sit snug to the back of the bag, and carry it by hand, like a briefcase. You could also consider using snap on and off straps. If you add rings to the sides of the bag, a strap you snap off the back could then be snapped on the sides for a long shoulder strap – so many great ideas with this pattern!
When you have finished making your Mack Messenger Backpack it will measure approximately 12″ high by 13.5″ wide by 3.5″ deep.
When you make a Mack Messenger Backpack the designer recommends that you use any of the following fabrics – sturdy cotton, cotton canvas, oilcloth or upholstery fabric.
