Kensington Clutch Sewing Pattern

A good clutch is a mainstay of every bag fancier’s wardrobe. The Kensington clutch has

class and presence. It has a slim profile but it still has room for all the essentials.
The design allows for the easy installation of an elegant chain strap, so it can be hands-free.

Pattern Rating:
intermediate with some knowledge assumed.

Finished Size:
11” wide x 8 1⁄2” tall x 1 1⁄2” deep



Suggested Fabrics:
quilting weight cotton, denim, canvas, furnishing
(upholstery) fabrics, linen, needle cord, waxed cotton, oilcloth

Gather these supplies:
Fabric:
½ yd. canvas or similar weight fabric for the exterior.
TIP: I used canvas but because the bag has evening possibilities, you could also
explore metallic fabrics or a bright red, embroidered Oriental silk.
½ yd. pure cotton fabric for the lining.
Interfacing:
¾ yd. Style-vil foam interfacing (Vlieseline) alternatively, By Annie’s Soft & Stable
FQ H630 fusible fleece (Vlieseline) or, Bosal #326LF
Fat Eighth Decovil I Light fusible interfacing (Vlieseline)
Fat Eighth G740 fusible interfacing (Vlieseline) or Pellon 860F Ultra Weft
Notions:
1 ½” wide rectangle ring
½” anorak stud or similar stud
5” coordinating nylon zipper for the lining
Clear drying glue suitable for fabric
Coordinating threads for all fabrics and trims
