How to make tassels for your handmade bags. You can also use suede and narrow suede cord for this too.

Sometimes adding just a little bit of extra bling to your bag can take it from ho-hum to super-duper. And it doesn’t even always have to be functional, although that can help of course. These hanging tassels are not only decorative but they can also be used for zipper pulls too.

You can add them to older bags that need a little updating, or use them to add a splash of color and style to a bag that might otherwise be a little bit plain.

Supplies:

1 piece of leather or vinyl 3 1/2″ wide (wider for very thin leather) x 3″ high (or longer for a longer tassel)
1 strip of leather or vinyl 3/8″ wide x 2 1/8″ long for the trim on the cap
1 AWL to puncture fabric (hubby might already have one in his toolkit)
glue: Rubber Cement or Contact Cement
hardware: 1 tassel cap with screw
scissors to cut leather or vinyl
