How To Make A Bucket Bag FREE sewing tutorial
|This is the How To Make A Bucket Bag FREE sewing tutorial from the designer Sue Bleiweiss and shared through the We All Sew blog.
Now’s your chance to make this very pretty and practical bucket bag with this free tutorial. We love the big shiny grommets and chunky drawstring cord – and adding grommets is easier than you might think!
The designer has chosen fabric here that is perfect for fall. The round shape of the bag provides a deceptively roomy interior, while the patchwork shell is a fabulous canvas for showcasing your favorite fabrics.
If you want you can even make it scrappy for a casual, bohemian feel, or instead choose two or three solid fabrics for a more classic look.
What’s needed to make a Bucket Bag:
- Wool felt (can substitute quilt batting),
- Assorted fabric strips for the outside of the bag,
- Ultrasuede (can substitute denim or cotton),
- Fabric for the lining of the bag,
- One 2½” yard package of Mistyfuse Fusible web,
- Nine 7/16″ grommets,
- 1 yard of leather or suede cording,
- One cord lock,
- Wonder Clips or binder clips (optional),
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
