Around Town Tote Bag sewing pattern
The Around Town Tote Bag is great for carrying tons of stuff. You can take it to the beach or to a picnic, or take it shopping to a farmers market or a flea market.
It’s a great tote sewing project for the person who wants to learn the basic construction of a tote bag. The designer made two examples. One is the colorful tote made from outdoor fabric and canvas. The other was made from a home decorator fabric. Both can be washed.
This pattern uses strong webbing for the handles so no need to spend time cutting and sewing long straps when you can just use ready-made webbing and know it’s really strong. Adding the webbing straps along the side of the bag makes sure they are really strongly held in place and they also make the bag more sturdy too. Ideal for carrying heavy groceries.
Of course you can always sew your own fabric strap to match the fabrics used in the bag if you want to.
