Speedy Patchwork Tote Bag FREE sewing tutorial
|The awesome designer of the Speedy Patchwork Tote Bag has produced an excellent free step by step tutorial that you can find and follow by clicking on the link below.
This perfect scrap buster project makes three different sized tote bags with different sized squares.
Please note that this free tutorial shows you how to make the bag part of the tote but doesn’t include tutorials for all of the handles shown. The designer tells you briefly how to make and where to insert plain fabric strap handles (like the ones she put on the largest bag). The smallest bag has a set of ready-made handles, which you sew on at the end. While for the medium size bag the designer has a separate tutorial which you can download which shows you how to make the lobster claw handles.
When finished (not including the handles) the small tote measures approximately 7 1/2” by 3”, the medium tote 12 1/2” by 5” and the large bag 17 1/2” by 7”.
What you will need to make the Speedy Patchwork Tote Bag:-
- You’ll need to cut 66 squares to make 1 tote.
- The small tote uses 2” squares, the medium tote uses 3” squares and the large bag uses 4” squares.
- 1/4 yd to 1 yard of cotton fabric for the bag lining.
- Lightweight interfacing for the medium bag.
- Fusible fleece for the large bag.
