This project is super easy, required minimal supplies, no hardware, is perfect for beginners looking to sew their first bag – and yes it can be made using just one yard of fabric.
As the designer points out – making it out of the same one-yard cuts down on fabric choosing time because everybody knows that’s what takes the longest. Of course, if you want to mix your fabrics then you just go right ahead and do so, following the measurements and instructions supplied.
The One Yard Tote Bag has been designed as a very floppy and unstructured bag. Roll it up and stuff it in the door pocket of the car for when you need to pull it out to carry a few groceries. Or fold it up and keep in your main purse for when you go to the shops. A soft bag is ideal for that.
However, if you want to add interfacing to your bag then you can of course and it will work well to give the bag more structure and shape.
The supply list is very simple. You just need one yard of fabric. If you’re using directional fabrics be mindful of the pattern. If you’re a newbie you may want to use a fabric where direction doesn’t matter.
