Convertible Backpack Tote FREE sewing pattern
|Here’s the very wonderful Convertible Backpack Tote FREE sewing pattern from the designer Sew Can She.
The designer made this bag so that it doubles as both a tote and a backpack! It’s perfect for your kids, your teenagers, and even yourself.
You can take it to the library, the beach, and the grocery store. The designer made this an easy sewing pattern and has included templates and easy-to-follow instructions with photos.
And because of a casing that you’ll sew on one side this lightweight bag is easy to wear as a backpack. The idea is so smart. Sometimes convertible bags can be overly complicated with straps to unclip, lenghten, shorten or move. This simple design makes it easy and logical to use the bag both ways, as a tote to carry over your arm or wear as a backpack.
Under the casing, there’s a nice 12″ wide zipper that’s perfect for a wallet, writing tools, and even your face mask. The designer put the zipper on the back so it would be hidden from view when she wore the bag as a backpack, but you could easily sew it on the front instead, or in fact in the inside of the tote.
There’s a magnetic snap closure at the inside top too to prevent items from falling out when you put the bag down. And if you pull the straps up it turns into an easy tote.
Sizing info:
When you make a Convertible Backpack Tote for yourself it will measure approximately 16″ tall by 19″ wide (not including the straps).
The designer has made her blog post completely free to read, print, and sew! However, if you want a pdf download to keep then she has also converted the blog post to an optional PDF that’s optimized for printing. The cost of the optional pdf is $2 which you can find here.
