This little bag is perfect for toting your craft WIP (work in progress) wherever you go. I have used it on the train for my knitting! The handle is designed to fit over your arm leaving your hands free to craft in a queue. It is equally at home when at home too, keep it next to your chair so you can pick up where you left off, and knit (or quilt) in front of the TV.

The bag features a zipper box pocket in the front and two handy lined slip pockets inside. There is a drop in lining and bound edges so there is no complicated turning out to be done. Best of all, the pattern includes the step-by-step instructions to make the little macrame feather too!

Skill level:
Confident beginner to intermediate: not too many surprises here but some skills assumed. If you are new to sewing, this is the perfect bag to get you going and don't worry about the zipper pocket. It is really easy and I have added a supplementary masterclass on my blog to show you this handy skill in more detail, if you need more guidance.

Sizing info:
Dimensions: 11" high x 10 1/2" wide x 3 1/2" deep

Materials needed:
Fabric:
½ yd. canvas in a pretty print.
½ yd. lining fabric.
48” bias binding to coordinate with your main fabric. I have made mine from the main fabric because it is quite busy and I did not really want to add another pattern. A solid navy would have been another way to go.
Interfacing:
24” Style-vil foam interfacing (Vlieseline)
Fat Eighth S320 fusible interfacing (Vlieseline)
Everything Else:
5” metal zipper to coordinate with your main fabric.

The pattern:
Your pattern instructions include 9 pages of detailed instructions including hints and tips and two pages of printable templates with a sizing guide. There is a companion tutorial about the zipper and best of all, the pattern is full of TIPS which will give you a much deeper understanding of the bag making process. This is a teaching pattern designed to add to your skills. You get so much more than just another sewing pattern- you gain understanding about why you are doing something in a particular way.

This is one of the few patterns from The Folk Art Factory with a template/printable pattern piece. We just wanted to let you know upfront that it is not what you might be expecting- in the true spirit of old-school designing, the template is precisely hand-drawn. This does not affect its quality or function. It fits together 100% perfectly and a lot of people have bought and made this pattern successfully and beautifully. I love the organic and creative feeling that this gives me. The pattern really is handmade.
