This sewing pattern is for a knitting needle case - designed for double-pointed needle sets, but can be used for any tools (knitting needles, crochet books, artist brushes, cosmetic brushes, pens etc.) with a maximum length of 8". There's a simple button and loop fastening for easy access and convenience.

Sizing info:
- 8¾" by 4¾" wide folded.
- 8¾" by 18" wide unfolded.
- Fits Knitting Needles or craft tools - anything up to 8" long.
- Twelve pockets of various sizes ranging from .75 inches up to 2 inches wide.

Skill level:
This is a very beginner-friendly project.

Materials needed:

  • Exterior and interior flap - one Fat Quarter,
  • Interior including main panel and needle pockets – ½ a yard,
  • Interfacing - ½ a yard,
  • One piece of ¾" wide elastic 19" long,
  • One piece of leather cord 9" long for fastening (elastic cord will also work),
  • One button of your choice - ¾" diameter works well for the size of the case,
  • 90/14 or 110/18 (jeans/denim) needle for your sewing machine,
  • Basic sewing supplies,
  • A sewing machine.

Note - if you choose to work from measurements and don’t want to use the templates provide you’ll need a cutting mat, ruler, and rotary cutter.

The pattern:
This pattern makes constructing a needle case very easy - there are full-scale templates included for you to cut out, so need for measuring and calculating, which is great if you hate math! There is even a template for the needle pockets so you don't have to work out their positions yourself, with detailed instructions and photos to show you handy tips for how it's done.

If you DO prefer to work from measurements alone using a rotary cutter, full details of measurements for the various pieces are also given so you don't have to use the templates.

The pattern instructions include a detailed photo tutorial that guides you through the whole process step-by-step from start to finish, which makes this pattern very beginner friendly - all you really need is a 'can-do' attitude!
