Insulated Grocery Tote Bag FREE sewing pattern & tutorial
|
Here’s a unique FREE pattern and tutorial for an Insulated Grocery Tote Bag. Why is it unique? Because the pattern designer has used a “reflective car shade” as the insulation part. Who would have guessed! But if it insulates your car then why not use it to insulate a bag. We love it when sewers think outside the box and come up with innovative ideas.
This bag is pretty big and measures 19″ by 16″ by 7″. Please note that you should not wash this bag in a washing machine. Spot clean only.
There’s lots to love about this bag, including the really strong covered rope handles. Yes, you can’t see in the picture, but the handles are a heavy cord on the inside of a fabric sleeve. Makes this ideal for carrying a big bag of frozen food home from the grocery store.

What you will need to make the Insulated Grocery Tote Bag:-
- 1 yard of 54″ wide home decor weight fabric,
- One reflective car shade,
- 1-1/2 yards of 1″ wide cording,
- Two pieces of grosgrain ribbon 3/8″ wide by 10″ long,
- One 22″ long plastic, non-separating zipper,
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
