Free sewing pattern for a smart fold over bag made with jelly rolls, scraps or regular yardage.

Sew a jelly roll or scrappy flip-flop folded messenger bag.

A roomy tote with a loose structure, this bag can be easily folded and stowed when not in use. When you are using it, make it your statement piece. Grab your favorite large prints or use 2 1/2″ strips from a jelly roll. Both options are included in the pattern. Consider this your canvas and express your colorful desires.

Measures 16” wide at base x 4” deep x 18” tall with flap extended.

RECOMMENDED WITH THIS PATTERN

  • 2 1/2″ x WOF strips (8 to 10 strips) OR 20″ x 41″ nondirectional print OR (2) 20″ x 20 1/2″ directional print
  • 1/8 yard coordinating print, if using only 8 – 2 1/2″ strips
  • 1 yard coordinating print, lining
  • 5/8 yard Fusible Fleece
  • 1/4 yard Fusible Mediumweight Interfacing
  • 20″ handbag zipper
  • (2) 1 1/2″ D rings
  • Basic Sewing Supplies
